PupilBox brings you a visual lifestyle system rather than just glasses for one important reason: digital eye strain is caused by many different factors. Only wearing glasses, only using an economic chair, or only using eye drops– none of these alone are enough to send burning, tired eyes packing!
One of the most widely accepted, tried and true things that you can do to relieve digital eye strain is to just give your eyes a rest. Digital eye strain is linked to overexposure of the blue light emitted from screens, so taking a break can work wonders. What’s the best way to take a break, and how often? Enter the 20/20/20 rule.
Simply put, the 20/20/20 rule breaks down like this:
Every 20 minutes look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
It seems very rudimentary, but this tip has been documented and recommended by almost every reputable eye-health organization, including the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the Vision Council.
We think a great idea to do this is to set up YOUR #my20. At your work station (home OR office), pace out somewhere that is 20 feet away from your screen, and place a sticker, piece of tape, or other reminder there. You can easily set non intrusive reminders using website like Egg Timer. (This Timer is already set to 20 minutes for your 20/20/20).
Combining 20/20/20, other best practices, and a visual lifestyle system will set you on your way to higher productivity and an eye-strain-free life!
